Employee Orientation for the Laboratory Environment

This orientation is designed to satisfy the OSHA Laboratory Standard and EPA Hazardous Waste Management requirements by familiarizing recently hired laboratory personnel in general safety procedures for laboratories. The course covers chemical hazards and personal protective equipment to prevent exposures along with monitoring methods and medical surveillance. Building evacuation plans, fire prevention strategies and fire extinguisher use are also introduced in the session.

Chemical Fume Hoods

This online training course will provide employees information on proper fume hood safety and operational measures that should be utilized to limit exposures. Chemical Fume Hood training is a one-time training that is required for all faculty, staff and students who work with fume hoods.

Compressed Gas Safety

This online training course provides employees with compressed gas safety information related to OSHA’s Hazardous Materials standard (29 CFR 1910 Subpart H). Employees will be introduced to the different types of hazards relevant to compressed gases along with information concerning storage and transportation, regulators, and disposal.

Formaldehyde

This course is designed to meet the training requirements for the OSHA Formaldehyde Standard (29 CFR 1910.1048), as well as formaldehyde-specific requirements of the OSHA Laboratory Standard (29 CFR 1910.1450) and OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200).

Nanotechnology

This online training course will provide employees information on the potential hazards and risks involved with nanotechnology and the control measures that should be utilized to limit exposures. Nanotechnology safety training is a one-time training that is required for all faculty, staff and students who work with nanotechnology, nanomaterials or nanoparticles.
