EHS Mission, Vision and Core Values

The UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Environment, Health & Safety created and affirmed these statements of Mission, Vision and Core Values in 1995.

Mission Statement

We support the Universitys core mission of teaching, research, and service by providing comprehensive environmental, health and safety services to the University community including: education through training and consultation; maintaining a safe environment; ensuring regulatory compliance; and recognizing and controlling health and safety hazards.

Vision Statement

  • We will do our jobs in a professional manner and provide innovative solutions.
  • We will show appreciation to all employees and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • We are accountable not only to UNC-CH, but to the surrounding community as well.

Map to EHS buildingDirections:
  • Take I-40 Exit 266
  • Head southward into Chapel Hill onto MLK Blvd.
  • Proceed 2.5 miles through nine stop lights.
  • At 2.5 miles, the ninth stoplight is at Estes Drive.
  • Proceed straight through the Estes Dr. stoplight (do not turn).
  • Take the next right turn onto Airport Drive.
  • Proceed to the next stop sign, 0.3 miles.
  • At the stop sign you'll be back at Estes Drive.
  • Turn right at the stop sign onto Estes Drive.
  • Take an immediate right turn into the first driveway.
  • This driveway is the EHS parking lot.
