Inspect for all visible mold and outline scope ofwork for removal. Improper scope of work Contact EHS for direction or inspection assistance.
Gather PPE and cleaning materials Personal exposure and incomplete cleaning Proper PPE and cleaning materials
Assess need for work area containment Spreading of spores outside work area For areas greater than 10 ft2 of mold growth, the use of negative air HEPA filtration and containment barriers may be required. Contact EHS for assistance.
Don PPE Personal exposure Proper Donning of PPE
Clean all visible mold with plain water or with water and detergent solution. Areas of mold not thoroughly cleaned can regrow Replace wiping cloths frequently to prevent re-contamination

Inspect area to ensure that all visible mold has been removed

Place all used cleaning materials in trash bags, tie bags and dispose of in regular trash Improper handling can cause spreading of spores Ask supervisor for assistance if unsure
Inspect area for possible leaks or water intrusion. If water intrusion continues mold growth will re-occur Report findings to supervisor and EHS

  1. Mold Remediation
  2. PPE
  3. Ladder Safety

Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  1. Protective gloves
  2. Eye protection
  3. Tyvek suit if needed (EHS will advise)
  4. Dust mask if needed (EHS will advise)

This JSA applies to:

  1. Surfaces such as metal, plastic, vinyl, glass, and solid building materials.
  2. Only surface cleaning and not aggressive remediation methods that create airborne mold spores such as removal/demolition of building materials.
