June 2021 is Safety Awareness Month

Governor Roy Cooper has declared June as Safety Awareness month. Across North Carolina, workplace safety is emphasized during this month to stress the importance of identifying and eliminating safety hazards. Making safety and health a daily priority is essential to the well-being and security of all North Carolinians, especially during the unprecedented workplace challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 vaccines are our best shot to bring back summer and get everyone safely back to the people, places and activities they love. Another way for UNC to support this important initiative is for employees to Flag the Hazard by identifying and reporting safety hazards in the workplace.
