Due to the outbreak of a respiratory infection that is caused by a novel coronavirus which first emerged in the city of Wuhan in the Hubei Province of China, nonessential University-affiliated travel to China is not permitted at this time.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has reported an outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus that was first detected in Wuhan City, China, and continues to expand. We are not aware of any confirmed cases on our campus at this time.

UNC-Chapel Hill Has One Confirmed Case of the Mumps

A UNC-Chapel Hill student has a confirmed case of the mumps. The dates the student may have been infectious were Jan. 11 through Jan. 18. The risk to the general population of contracting mumps from this student is low.

Measles Preparedness

As of June 6, 2019, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that there have been 1,022 cases of measles in 28 states this year. This is the greatest number of cases reported in the U.S. since 1992 and since measles was declared eliminated in 2000.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 704 cases of measles were reported from 22 states from January 1 to April 26, 2019. This is the greatest number of cases reported in the U.S. since measles was declared eliminated in 2000.

Measles Facts from Campus Health Services

From January 1 to April 11, 2019, 555 individual cases of measles have been confirmed in 20 states. This is the second-greatest number of cases reported in the U.S. since measles was eliminated in 2000. Measles has not yet been reported in North Carolina.
