Since 2012, Mary Crabtree has been offering more than just encouragement to student volunteers from the non-profit Carolina for the Kids (CFTK), who set up the gym for the annual UNC Dance Marathon. She also offers safety training and oversight.

Genie Industries has found that wed debris in the boom tubes could lead to premature and excessive wear of the upper wear pads. This excessive wear can lead to potential damage to the boom tubes and could cause the platforms to drop.
