The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill operates its own stormwater system under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting program. The UNC-Chapel Hill stormwater system consists of thousands of catch basins and inlets, miles of piping, hundreds of stormwater control measures (SCMs) and outfalls that discharge stormwater to Meeting of the Waters Creek, Bolin Creek, Battle Branch, Chapel Creek, Morgan Creek and Crow Branch Creek. The University is located within the Jordan Lake watershed within the Cape Fear River Basin.
