50 Years of EHS

On July 1, 1974, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill launched the Health and Safety Office, now recognized as Environment, Health and Safety (EHS). Over the past five decades, the department has been instrumental in advancing the University’s core mission of teaching, research and service, by providing comprehensive environmental, health and safety services to the Carolina community.

This year, we proudly celebrate our 50th anniversary at UNC-Chapel Hill. The expertise and commitment demonstrated by our staff has been essential in solidifying the University’s reputation as a leading global research institution.
