Forested buffers next to streams on the University campus provide healthy habitat for terrestrial and aquatic wildlife. The buffers help keep the streams flowing clear by allowing soil to filter stormwater runoff before the water reaches the stream.

Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) staff members Larry Daw and Janet Clarke, part of the Environmental Affairs team, are installing signs around the protected stream buffer on South Campus near the upcoming business school expansion project. The signs define the boundary of the stream buffer and remind people in the area to follow good environmental practices. The signs also provide EHS contact information for anyone who would like more information on how their activities can help protect water quality and wildlife habitat.
