I am a registered nurse for the University Employee Occupational Health Clinic, and I have been working here for almost 5 years.

How did you initiate your career in this field or what led you to your current position?

I had been nursing bedside for 2 years prior to this position and decided I needed a change, one that would better utilize my talents.

Which sectors of the University does your role impact, and in what ways does it contribute to those areas of work?

The University Employee Occupational Health Clinic has an impact all throughout campus as we serve the employee community. We do have a larger impact on healthcare, research and facilities employees as they are routinely in surveillance programs that require them to come to the clinic often for appointments.

Describe what you love most about your job.

I love the diversity in knowledge that is required to appropriately take care of a population with such a wide variety of careers. Having to think of all possible angles to ensure employee safety is a fulfilling challenge.

What advice do you have for those interested in entering a career in your line of work?

It is important to continue to learn in this career. Guidelines and best practices can be ever-changing in healthcare.
